by Rowena Johnson The word “mother” makes me think of Mother Nature and how all mothers are connected, although we all have our own stories. Flowers emulate life — a seed is planted, it’s nurtured, grows, blooms and reseeds so life goes on. My arrangement is natural and garden looking with a tree of life […]

by Beth McCampbell The job of a mother requires a certain gentleness, kindness and softness of heart that no one else can imitate. Mothers give so much of their time and energy to others that by the end of the day there is nothing left to give. I wanted to embody that feminine side of […]

Mom surrounds her children with love, and in appreciation, the children radiate love back to their mom. A true miraculous wonder of life. Earth Day is a unique holiday where we take the time to celebrate the earth and it’s resources that we tend to look over in our busy lives. Last Spring, my son ran up to me outside with a small yellow flower in his grip. He had a huge smile as he thrust his hand in my face. Though it was just a dandelion he realized, at the age of 2, that flowers make me extremely happy.
Recently, I was the matron of honor in one of my best friends’ wedding. When she was planning her wedding, one of the first things she made a decision on was her flowers. She put a lot of thought into them, and they were beautiful. However I don’t think there’s such a thing as an ugly flower. All flowers are beautiful and I guess that’s why throughout life, through good times and not the good times, flowers are the best way to say the right thing even when you are at a lost for words.
Flowers soften bare walls and comfort anxious hearts. I totally believe that. My personal experience is that when I have flowers placed on my counter, windowsill or desk, my day automatically has built-in moments of peaceful pause. I can’t help but take a moment to look at them. Smell them. Think about who gave them to me.
